OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center has recently invested in an upgrade to their GE Healthcare LightSpeed CT scanner that will dramatically reduce the radiation dose patients are exposed to during a CT scan.
“The addition of the software upgrade extends the range of quality diagnostic services that OSF Saint James offers residents of Livingston County and surrounding areas” according to Tim Johnson, Executive Director of Diagnostic & Ambulatory Services. “ASiR provides a significantly lower radiation dose while maintaining high quality images throughout the body.”
ASiR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) is a new, advanced image reconstruction technique that makes it possible to dramatically reduce radiation dose to patients up to 40% without compromising the quality of the image.
CT (Computerized Tomography) is the diagnostic exam of choice when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical program that is not easily detectable with a conventional physical exam or x-ray.
